For two centuries, every time someone heard the phrase “cigar box” a vision of a wood rectangle covered with paper labels popped into their head. It should. Hundreds of millions of boxes like that have been made. They’re descriptively called “nailed wood boxes” by the people who make them. They were manufactured in an almost endless variety of shapes and sizes from barely over one inch to more than two feet wide.
