CANADA

The Canadian cigar industry, though smaller than that of Manhattan, was larger than you probably think. Eventually its story will be told here, but for now only four links are open.

Canadian Factories includes nearly all that is known about identifying the makers of specific brands and boxes.

Dating Canadian Boxes provides pictures of all the relevant Canadian tax stamps and gives dates that various laws affecting boxes were changed.

Cigar Stamp Notes adds detailed information  which is more helpful to the serious collector of Canadian tax stamps than to someone trying to date a cigar box.

The link below will cause you to exit the National Cigar Museum and go to the box collection of the Museum of Civilisation in Quebec whose latest exhibit is called “Selling Smoke: How Canadian Cigar Boxes Pitched their Wares 1883-1935”
