Making wood boxes
Scheduled Spring 2009

A half-century of research has led me to conclude that the men (and women) who made and sold cigars are responsible for more innovation in packaging and advertising than any other industry or commodity.  I plan to examine and prove this contention at length in another Gallery. This Gallery leads you to the boxes, cans, jars and packs that lead me to that belief.
Wood was the most common material, but you’ll discover that cigars have also been packed in tin, glass, plastic, aluminum, pewter, silver, foil, pottery, brass and cardboard and in an incredible array of shapes and sizes.
This page provides convenient links to exhibits of those shapes and materials.
